Village of Cazenovia Lake Access

To:  The Village Board of Cazenovia

We, the undersigned residents of both the Town and the Village of Cazenovia, wish to express our deep concern with the Village Board resolution to open Lakeside Park access to non-taxpayers. If it should move forward, this change in access to Cazenovia Lake will have the following negative impacts on us as residents;

1. Local taxes will increase due to enforcement and maintenance cost which will exceed the income from fees.
2. Taxpaying residents may lose 50% of the trailer parking spaces at Lakeside Park to non taxpayers.
3. An increase in the number of larger horsepower boats on the lake will cause additional safety and environmental issues.

We request that the village withdraw its resolution until the following issues are examined and their impacts on our community, our tax structure and our quality of life are more fully understood.

1. The impact of opening the McNitt State Park.
2. The effect of closing the north and south Town of Cazenovia access points.
3. The Comprehensive Planning Committees of the Town and Village are finalized.
4. The benefit to taxpayers is clearly demonstrated to exceed the negative impacts.

We, the undersigned residents of the Village and/or Town of Cazenovia, New York, have added our names to this petition because we wish to go on record as agreeing to the above points. We urge members of the Village Board to immediately withdraw this resolution.
