Cross of Valour for Const. Chris Garrett

OTTAWA, ONTARIO, Dec 10, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) -- Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada, has announced the awarding of one Star of Courage and 14 Medals of Bravery. The recipients will be invited to receive their decorations at a ceremony to be held at Rideau Hall at a later date.

By signing this Petition, I am adding my voice to those of other Canadians, in joining Premiere Dalton McGuinty's call to extend the eligibility timeframe for the Cross of Valour and other decorations for bravery beyond two years.

Mr. McGuinty's letter cites the needs that exist in certain situations where an application for bravery may not be submitted within the two-year time limit - citing specifically Constable Garrett's case.
