This petition is a petition of support. It is also a petition of protest in defense of Freedom of Speech. We feel that the monitoring of radio conversations is a violation of this freedom of speech. Conversations over the PRIVATE radios owned by the teams are a privilage to listen to, not a right. These conversations are technically private and NASCAR has no right to 'tap' into them without a warrant in every state of the union.

We feel by violating this right to freedom of speech the sanctioning body is not only alienating the teams, they are alienating the fans that partake in the racing experience and fuel the popularity of the sport. popular By forcing the teams and their support crew to sanitize and water down their emotion for fear of being penalized for their actions, the sanctioning body is killing the essential element that helped make the sport popular in the beginning.
