4 Daughters Seeking Justice of Deceased Fathers |

To: Mayor of San Francisco Mr. Gavin Newsom, Human Rights Commision, Governor Schwarzenegger, Board of Supervisors of San Francisco, Diane Feinstein, Barbara Boxer, California State Attorney General, Police Chief Heather Fong, and the General PublicA fatal car crash claimed the lives of three men, changing the lives of three families. On August 6th, 2006, three good friends started their day off with a morning stroll around Lake Merced like they usually do. On their way to the lake, an irresponsible driver carelessly cut in front of their truck. The driver of the truck tries to avoid hitting the car in front of him, causing the truck to hit a tree and overturn. Leaving the three victims trapped inside. None of the three survived, which meant that no one able to reveal the truth behind this unfortunate event. Luckily, a kind-hearted witness was at the scene of the crime, and followed the careless driver to confront his actions. The driver denied having anything to do with the car crash and headed off to his soccer game at Golden Gate Park. The careless driver kept on going without attempting to call 911. Perhaps, they would still be alive or we could have at the least said goodbye to our beloved fathers. Was he not concerned about the safety and lives of these victims?
These three innocent men, our father's lives were taken away. Each man had their own family to support and nurture. What are the families to do? Sheung Cheung Chow, 66, the driver of the truck has a 22 year old daughter whom he loves dearly. He supports her financially through college hoping to see her enter professional schooling so she can live the life he wasn't able to. The front seat passenger, Bing Song Mo, 49, has a wife, a 19 year old daughter, a 13 year old son and an 81 year old mother who had lost her husband for just a year ago. It is he who puts the roof over their heads, food on the table, and it is he who provides for them. Ji Shou Zhang, 54, the back seat passenger has a wife, a 29 year old son, and two daughters who are at the ages of 25 and 27. He has worked hard to raise them and now that they have grown, they are hoping to be able to return the favor of providing for him as he has for them. The children of the three families wanted to take care of their fathers so that these hardworking men could live a more comfortable life but they left them too soon.
The wives of the victims are immigrants and are unfamiliar with the English language nor do they understand the system of this country. The son of Mr.Zhang isn't fluent in English so this case is left for his two daughters to handle. In Mr.Mo's case, his son is only thirteen which leaves the responsibility to be carried on by his nineteen year old daughter. Mr.Chow has only one daughter but she is determined to fight this through with the other two families. In total, we four daughters are trying our hardest to find justice for our fathers but no one has listened. We feel ignored for the way things turned out to be.
Since this tragedy, no one has contacted or helped any of the three families. Each of the grief-stricken families is trying their hardest to fight for their fathers, subsequently leaving the family members to neglect their every day duties trying to find justice that without a doubt, their fathers deserve. The daughters are desperate for help, and they've been denied their rights to know certain crucial information about the case.
America is the land of justice, freedom, and equality, not a place where people who has government internal relation or ones who have money can cover up their wrong doings over those who do not have any connection in the government. Why are the families being prevented from finding these answers for their loved ones? The daughters feel useless for not being able to do anything to help fight the case. We do not want this case to be neglected and put aside. Our dads are completely innocent and we, the daughters of these men, will not let this case slip away so easily. We need someone to stand up for us and to support us. This is why we are writing to you with the hope that you will guide us through our struggles.
We've lost the most important person in the family and we have to face this hardship alone. We were not informed about this case but having to research online or to look through the newspaper. We were left with the feelings of distress and confusion. What information we found by researching was that the District Attorney's Office decided to drop charges of this case, claiming that the driver "did nothing illegal". Instead, they said that it "might" have been a vehicle or medical problem, which to us, sounds a little one-sided. We have rights as victims to be treated at least equal or comparable to that inconsiderate driver. Who's side is the law on? There are certain things we should have the right of access to but is being withheld. Leaving us feeling excluded from such a life changing misfortune concerning the deaths of our fathers.
This is not an attack towards anyone or department but for people to do what is right. For whomever that was involved in this collision to come forward and take full responsibility. Grant justice for our fathers like they deserve. Respectfully, we ask you to support us three families through this rough time. We need your help. Justice for all, that is all we ask.
By signing this petition, you are helping us to get our voices heard so that our fathers may get the justice they deserve. Thank you.
