Ausgangslage:

1997 wurde der Disney Film ‚Arielle – Die Meerjungfrau’ wieder in die Kinos gebracht, allerdings mit einer neuen Synchronisation, die in vielen Belangen nicht an das Original von 1989 nicht heranreicht. Man wollte das Ganze modernisieren und schrieb deshalb die Songs und Dialoge um - mit völlig unangebrachtem Wortschatz. Im Oktober 2006 erscheint eine Special DVD Edition von ‚Arielle’, auf der als deutsche Tonspur lediglich die neue von 1997 enthalten sein soll.


Sehr geehrtes Buena Vista Home Entertainment Team

Wir wissen, dass Sie die neue deutsche Synchronisation von ‚Arielle – Die Meerjungfrau’ für gelungen erklären, für zeitgemäßer oder auch näher am Original. Aber wir, die Liebhaber dieses Filmklassikers, sind anderer Meinung. Wir finden, dass die neue Synchronisation schlechter sowie unangebrachter ist und den Charme des Films zunichte macht.

Deshalb verlangen wir für die im Oktober 2006 erscheinende DVD Special Edition des Films entweder beide deutschen Tonspuren oder auch nur die alte von 1989, die mit der einzigartigen Ute Lemper und vielen weiteren bezaubernden Stimmen zu den besten Synchronisationen Disneys überhaupt gehört.

Wir wissen inzwischen, dass es dabei nicht um rechtliche Probleme sondern ausschließlich um interne Entscheidungen aus dem Mutterhaus in Burbank geht. Somit muss unsere Bitte im Machbaren liegen.

Vielen Dank für das Verständnis der Fans eines der größten Filmklassiker aller Zeiten.

Initial position:

1997, Disney has re-released ‚The little Mermaid’ in the cinemas, but with a new German dubbing. This is in many ways worse than the original from 1989. The whole thing should have been more modern and that’s why the songs and dialogues have been re-written – with an inappropriate vocabulary. In October 2006, there will be a Special DVD Edition of ‘The little Mermaid, where as German dubbing only the new one will be.


Dear Buena Vista Home Entertainment Team

We know that you think the new German dubbing of ‘The little Mermaid’ is good. You think, it is better, more modern and nearer to the English original. But we, the lovers of this classic movie, don’t think like that. We think the new dubbing is much worse and absolutely inappropriate. The film is not the same anymore.

That’s why we request for the DVD Special Edition in October 2006 the old German dubbing or at least both of them. The original with the lovely Ute Lemper and the rest of the cast are just too great to lie in a closed file in the archives. In fact, the 1989 German dubbing is one of the best dubbings Disney ever made.

We know that there are no problems with the law because of the dubbing. It is an intern decision of Disney Burbank. So it must be possible, for the fan’s sake.

Thank you for your understanding of the fans of one of the biggest film classic of all time.
