Rethink CT Teen Driving Laws

To:  State Of Connecticut

Starting August 1, 2008, Connecticut Governor Jodi Rell along with the CT legislature have imposed new laws among 16 and 17 year old drivers. These laws include no driving anyone for one year (with the exception of immediate family, driving instructor, etc.), 11pm-5am curfew, immediate license suspension, and to pass a 25 question test to get a learners permit as well have at least 40 hours of training before you can get your license.

Connecticut's teens are disappointed with the government's decisions and would like to get the message across that we will no longer accept having more freedoms taken away. We call for the State of Connecticut to rethink their decisions and choices, as people should drive at their own risk and it is not up to the government to teach us how to drive responsibly, it is common sense and ultimately up to our parents or legal guardians.

There are better ways to go about this issue, such as putting driver's education into ALL public high schools, instead of taking the easy way out and put restriction on teen drivers.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
