Travel Buddy

To:  Interim Chancellor Marsh

We, the students of Rutgers University, Camden campus, hereby petition Chancellor Marsh to institute a "Travel Buddy" program.

This program should include, but is not limited to:
- educating students as to safe travel trips, for commuters and residents
- advertise all relevant contact info for the Rutgers Police station and security officers
- offer incentives for students to provide safe, paired escorts for those walking to the commuter lot (7), and to the Walter Rand Transportation Center
- research encoding the RU Express card so it can be used at transit kiosks, reducing the need to carry cash money, and students' exposure to theft

Student safety should be among the highest priorities of the Rutgers-Camden administration, and should be reflected thusly in the budget. We hereby additionally request Chancellor Marsh increase transparency in the budget process, making available on the RU website all budget breakdowns relating to transportation and security, both on the campus proper and in the parking lots.
