To:  Clearfield, Pennsylvania Businesses and Residents

In April 16th's edition of The Progress, Clearfield Municipal Authority have decided to raise the base rate for water. The rates will be double or MORE than what Clearfield residents have been paying in the past. The Clearfield Municipal Authority spent far too much on past projects. And who is paying for this? Clearfield residents. Every time a new project comes under the CMA's belt, they claim that the water prices will not go up. When they rebuilt the reservoir back in the early 90's, the water prices went up even though they insisted that they would not. When they decided to undertake the sewer project that is still going on, they claimed that the water prices would not go up. Now the prices are nearly doubling because they are in debt. And guess what? Our water is still disgusting. How are the small business in Clearfield going to survive? Moreover, how are the residents of Clearfield going to survive? Blue Rose Candle Shop on E. Locust Street, beside The Progress has already fallen victim to the borough surcharges and has been forced to shut down their place of operation and take up shop in their own home.

This, combined with the already-outrageous borough surcharge is going to drive every business and every person into poverty. And lets face it folks, most of us here in Clearfield are already poor. Where do we go from here? Homeless, or elsewhere. It's Fight or Flight.

I urge you ALL to read this article and sign a petition to stop this. Clearfield residents and businesses can't afford it. Please stand up for this cause, people. Someone has to make a difference here. And please sign using your real name and not an anonymous "screen name".
