Atheists and Agnostics in Government

To:  U.S. Congress

We, the undersigned, ask for the right of Atheists and Agnostics to withhold government office.
As of 2009, the states of Texas, Arkansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee all maintain laws against Atheists and Agnostics to prevent them from withholding government positions.
These laws contradict the United States Bill of Right’s first amendment, obviously making them controversial.
