Airport Impact Relief, Inc., an East Boston based environmental organization, is asking the FAA to reconsider its rule regarding the runway protection zones prohibiting any public assembly underneath them, in particular a three-decker home at 18 Neptune Road, East Boston.
This property is the last remaining building of an East Boston neighborhoodand is eligible for listing in The National Historic Register.
While we realize that within East Boston other residents are situated underneath many of the runways, 18 Neptune Road, while not being proposed for residential use, could be utilized periodically forsuch usesas a museum containing many of the East Boston memorabilia, oras a stop alongthe East Boston Greenway duringlimited openhours.
We do not believe that this is in conflict with the FAA's rules for large assemblies.
The demolition ofthis last remaining home in a neighborhood already lost to runway expansion is forever. Sign on to support efforts to keep a piece of East Boston's historic district.
