19.10 Whitman County Ordinance

We the people of Whitman County Washington submit this petition to you asking you to reject the proposed ordinance changes regarding:
1) Imposing a viewshed (minimum distance of 1600’ between residences). *Reference 19.10.2.a
2) Imposing a maximum distance of a residence to a county or state road. *Reference 19.10.2.a.v
3) Imposing a 200’ minimum setback from an agricultural property line. *Reference 19.10.2.a.vi
4) Prohibit building in highly visible locations (on hills or ridges). *Reference 19.10.2.b.ix
5) Requiring a county official’s approval of house or building location, size, design, color & landscaping plants. Reference 19.10.2.c
6) Requiring a county official’s approval of lighting fixtures & bulb intensity. *Reference 19.10.2.d
*Reference numbers refer to the new proposed ordinance published by The Whitman County Planning Commission.
The proposed ordinance changes impact EVERY resident & property owner of Whitman County.
Positive changes can be achieved by property owners and the planning commission working together.

Time is of the essence, as the Planning Commission votes on Wednesday, November 2nd, 2005. If passed, the new ordinance will be presented to the County Commissioners within 7 days. All petition signatures must be obtained prior to the County Commissioners Public Hearing which will be scheduled within 14 days of the receipt of the new ordinance. After the public hearing the County Commissioners will vote to accept or reject the new ordinance changes.
