According to the news report from Malay Mail on 1st September 2010, (http://www.mmail.com.my/content/48211-blogger-hassan-skodeng-face-charge-tomorrow), Blogger 'Hassan Skodeng' whose real name is Irwan Abdul Rahman, is expected to be charged under Section 233 (1)(a) of Communication and Multimedia Act 1998, for improper use of network facilities or network service by making, creating, soliciting and initiates transmission of any content that is obscene, indecent, false, menacing or offensive in character with malicious intent.
We, the undersigned, would like to appeal to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Kementerian Penerangan Komunikasi Dan Kebudayaan(KPKK) to drop the charges alleged against him.
His blog, nose4news.wordpress.com, is just a portal of some humorous pieces created to entertain his readers. We, the public feel, that he has no malicious intention to damage Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)'s reputation nor to affect the said company's business in Malaysia and the act of charging him is against the interest of the public who feels that it's a case of a conglomerate bullying an individual who's livelihood as an editor/writer could be severely jeopardised if this is brought upon him. The perception of the public towards TNB will be marred by what we see as ruthless and inflexible. As the sole provider of electricity in Malaysia, TNB should have taken this satirical blog as a way to gain good publicity and build goodwill to the customers instead bringing a lawsuit upon the blogger.
