To:  Liz Brumfiel, AAA President, and the AAA Executive Board

We the undersigned sincerely regret the choice that the AAA has made to relocate the 2004 meetings to a Hilton facility in Atlanta. This decision attempts to circumvent the underlying ethical issues, and we believe it effectively violates the spirit and intent of the strike in San Francisco. As such, we wish to inform you of our resolve to boycott the meetings should they be held in Atlanta. The AAA ethical code states that “anthropological researchers must do everything in their power to ensure that their research does not harm the safety, dignity, or privacy of the people with whom they work, conduct research, or perform other professional activities”. We cannot in good conscience associate ourselves in any way with the Atlanta Hilton in this current situation.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
