Changes to the Strathclyde south east rail service |
To: First ScotRail Customer RelationsJune 23rd, 2008
We, the undersigned, would like you to consider amending the current timetable for the Strathclyde South East service which runs from Glasgow to Lanark.
From Monday to Thursday, along with Saturday, the service runs its last train at 10:47pm, with a last train running at 11:47pm on a Friday, and 11:06pm on a Sunday.
With the increase in the amount of club nights and events which run past this time being held in Glasgow city centre, we believe the time has come for First ScotRail to consider running at least one other train after these times.
As you will no doubt be aware, attacks on young people in the early hours of the morning in Glasgow city centre are on the rise, with one of the main reasons being young people walking the streets trying to search out taxi’s and overcrowded bus services.
We believe a later train service, even with a slight increase in fares for these services to cover staff working unsociable hours, would be of great benefit to many of your customers throughout the Strathclyde region.
Such services are already available in various other parts of Europe, and we believe it’s time that Scotland, and especially Glasgow, which boasts one of the more thriving club scenes in Europe, followed suit.
Sincerely,
