Postage Stamp for Pluto Discoverer Clyde Tombaugh |
To: U.S. Postal Service Citizens' Stamp Advisory CommitteeAstronomer Clyde W. Tombaugh discovered the planet Pluto on February 18, 1930. He was just 24 years old. Pluto was the only planet discovered in the twentieth century and the only one found by an American.
