Against recent events of Hate and Homofobia in Gambia

Dear Sir,

The international community of Lesbian, Gay, Bissexual, Transexual and Transgender has been taken knowledge of the recent threats to pursuit and behead homosexuals that live in Gambia and we are determinate to take forward as a public message against your government which, as we know, it is going to impact directly on tourism and the international aid help your country receives.

Gambia is a country member of the United Nations since 1965, and, as the most important leader of this nation, it is your duty to assure the human rights of those who live there, independently of the domain religion of your country. Your threats to the homosexuals, therefore, are unsustainable in face of the commitment that Gambia has set in 1965 and inadmissible from the human point of view.

The leathers of other countries around the world, beside UN itself, are already being convoked to condemn public your threats. Above it is the link that directs you to a protest-letter written by the president of IGLHRC, International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commition, which they have our support.

Ao Presidente de Gâmbia Yahya Jammeh


Caro senhor,

A comunidade LGBTT internacional tem tomado conhecimento de suas recentes ameaças aos homossexuais que vivem em Gâmbia e está determinada a levá-las adiante como mensagem publicitária contra o seu governo, o que, sabemos, irá impactar diretamente no turismo e nas ajudas internacionais que seu país recebe.

Gâmbia é um país membro da ONU desde 1965, e, como líder máximo dessa nação, é seu dever garantir os direitos humanos daqueles que aí vivem, independente da religião dominante no país. Suas ameaças aos homossexuais, portanto, são insustentáveis perante o compromisso que Gâmbia firmou em 1965 e inadmissíveis do ponto de vista humano.

Os lideres de outros países ao redor do mundo, além da própria ONU, já estão sendo convocados a condenar publicamente suas ameaças. Abaixo está o link que te direciona para uma carta-protesto, escrita pela presidente do IGLHRC, organização internacional de direitos humanos para gays e lésbicas que tem também o nosso apoio
