Save the Cleveland Rockers |
To: WNBAOn Friday September 19, 2003, Gordon Gund released his rights as the owner of the WNBA franchise, the Cleveland Rockers. Currently, the WNBA is evaluating the Rockers franchise. They will make a decision on the team, whether to relocate, disperse, or keep the Rockers in Cleveland. The Rockers are one of the WNBA’s original eight teams and have a long and proud history with the league. The fans of Cleveland have been noted as some of the most loyal and energetic fans in the league. These fans are asking for your support, please sign this petition in hopes of keeping the Cleveland Rockers in Cleveland. Even with little to no marketing of the Rockers, the team still averaged an attendance of 7,400 in 2003. With such a large and dedicated fan-base in Cleveland, it would be detrimental to relocate the team to another city. If the Rockers were dispersed, the WNBA would lose nearly all of the 7,000 plus fans in the Cleveland area. After coming off its most exciting year, for the WNBA to lose an original team would be a disaster. Please help keep this WNBA franchise in Cleveland. Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
