Stronger Action Against Bob Dumas |
To: G-105 and Clear Channel Communications, Inc.To G-105 and Clear Channel Communications, Inc.,
Affirming that on April 1, 2008 Bob Dumas, host of "Bob and the Showgram" spent about fifteen minutes degrading American Indians on air.
Recalling that he referred to them as “lazy” and “inbred”.
Noting with grave concern that in the past, Bob made racial statements in 2004 about an American Idol contestant.
Noting further that “Bob and the Showgram” has been at the center of other controversies in past instances (I.e. Heterosexual Pride Ralley).
Fully endorsing the statements of Jimmy Goins, the Tribal Chairman of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina (http://www.lumbeetribe.com/Press%20Room/Chairman%20calls%20for%20firings.html).
Declaring Bob’s and co-host’s comments to be stereotypical, ignorant, and racist.
We, the Undersigned, hereby:
Strongly condemn the statements made by Bob and co-hosts on April 1, 2008 during “Bob and the Showgram”.
Call upon management/administration of G-105 and/or Clear Channel Communications to immediately take stronger action against Bob Dumas.
Further recommend that G-105 issues an apology DIRECTLY TO the Lumbee Tribe and American Indians everywhere.
Emphasize that racism is not a laughing matter, and show hosts should be more careful with their words.Sincerely,
