Currently there is no legislation requiring the mandatory labelling of all genetically modified foods sold in Canada. We do not feel that voluntary labelling will adequately cover all GM foods sold in Canada, nor is it a fair process, as all non-GM food producers will take the initiative, and incur costs to protect the public from the GM food producers.

We, the undersigned, believe the choice to purchase or not to purchase genetically modified foods is a right that should be available to all Canadians.
We ask the Canadian government to pass legislation under the Food and Drug Act requiring mandatory labelling of all genetically modified food products sold in Canada.
We ask that the government of British Columbia implement the Genetically Engineered Food Labelling Act through regulations put forth by the Honourable Iona Campagnolo, Lieutenant Governor.
