August 2006, during a City Council workshop, Police Chief Billy Hughes asked Councilmen to take into consideration city restrictions on Pitbulls, Rottweilers, and Doberman pinschers. Stricter vicious dog laws are very important BUT not by singling out a specific breed of dog. ALL breeds of dogs can be vicious. Focus should be placed on stricter leash laws and enforcing laws already in effect, also stricter punishment for irresponsible pet owners of ALL breeds. It is not “IN” the animal to be mean, they are “TAUGHT” to be mean. We are asking all responsible pet owners to join together with us to stop Breed Specific laws from being passed here in McComb, Mississippi. Please sign this petition to support our fight.
