To:  St. John's City Council

We, the undersigned, demand that the proposed Text Amendment, Number 362, 2006 to the St. John’s Development Regulations to accommodate the proposed redevelopment of The Battery Hotel site, not be entertained by St. John’s City Council until such time as the applicant (Mr. Rick Butler) fulfills the requirements of Sections 5.2.1 and 5.3.1 of the Development Regulations. More specifically the applicant must submit drawings/plans to Council showing the proposed siting, height and bulk of the proposed building.

Furthermore, we wish to remind St. John's City Council that the guidelines adopted by them (the same guidelines under which residents have been required to adhere to for any new or existing building applications) since July 2005 recommended that any futher redevelopment of the Battery Hotel site stay within the existing building envelope ( i.e no increase in existing height or width).

Therefore we, the undersigned, because of the importance of the existing Battery Hotel site to the city’s landscape, view planes and surrounding neighbourhoods also demand that Council hold a public hearing on the redevelopment of the site in order to allow the citizens of St. John’s to have full input.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
