4MOTION availability in the United States and Canada

To:  Volkswagen of America and Volkswagen AG

We, the undersigned, respectfully request that Volkswagen of America and the Volkswagen AG review the lineup of automobiles made available to buyers in the United States and Canada, and realize that not all potential Volkswagen buyers whom are interested in the 4MOTION all-wheel drive system want something the size or price of the Passat, or an automatic transmission.

Therefore, we suggest that changes to the lineup be made to include both the Bora (Jetta) V6 4MOTION, and Golf V6 4MOTION, available not only with 5-speed Tiptronic transmissions, as in the current Passat for the US and Canadian markets, but 6-speed manual transmissions, as in the European markets, and that the Passat lineup be revised to include a 5-speed manual transmission in conjunction with the 4MOTION system, again, as in the European markets.

The manual transmission is just as important as the drivetrain itself, as, contrary to popular opinion, not all Americans and Canadians are unable to drive a standard transmission, and do not necessarily want an automatic transmission, whilst on the other side of both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, our European, Asian, and Australian brethren are allowed to make their own decision regarding what transmission they would like in their 4MOTION-equipped Volkswagens.

Please rethink your strategy for United States and Canadian sales and availability.
