To:  Governor Carcieri and members of the Rhode Island General Assembly

We're in it for the long haul.

Rhode Island's young adults care deeply about the long-term health of the state. We want to make sure that Rhode Island remains an attractive place for us to live, work, and raise our families.

The proposed budget cuts to education, healthcare, and affordable housing threaten to destroy the fabric of our communities and to cripple the economic advancement of our state. While the cuts may seem to make sense in the short term, they end up costing the state more in the long run. Rhode Island can do better.

Our community, our state and our future are depending on us, and we are depending on you.

As your constituent, I urge you to oppose any budget cuts that most threaten our state's future. Maintaining investments in healthcare, housing, and education and making investments in renewable energy means investing in jobs and a strong economy for Rhode Island’s future. It means that young people will stop being forced to leave our state and instead can help build a stronger Rhode Island.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
