Bring Down The Tom Quick Monument

To:  Borough of Milford, Pennsylvania

Affirmation of the Lenape/Indian heritage and the right to live in the State of Pennsylvania without the horrific and racist reminder of the slaughter of Lenape men, women, and children and/or other indigenous Indians, by one Tom Quick thur the erection and/or re-dedication of a monument in Milford, Pennsylvania.

Whereas, it is the intent of the Town Council and the people of Milford, Pennsylvania to rededicate an existing monument to the memory of one Tom Quick, admitted to and known to have murdered innocent Lenape men, women, and children and/or other indigenous Indians in the area during peacetime; and

Whereas, the monument to one Tom Quick stands as a racially prejudiced reminder to the killing fields and the holocaust of the indigenous Indians and/or Lenape People and their culture, and continually disrupts and evokes racist and bigoted feelings within the Borough of Milford, and in the State of Pennsylvania;

We, the people of the World, regardless of our own heritage, do therefore demand that this rededication of the monument be abandoned, and that the monument be covered, removed, or otherwise concealed out of sight, so that the memory of the horrific holocaust which happened here in Milford, Pennsylvania, can be lessened and mended, and the settlers and existing Lenape and indigenous Indians can begin the process of healing so as to move forward and live in peace.

Further, we, the undersigned, ask the Town Council and the people of Milford, Pennsylvania, to recognize the Lenape and other indigenous and/or Indian populations and cultures living in and around Milford, in the State of Pennsylvania, and to provide for educational units about the Lenape and indigenous Indians as a special unit in local schools from K-12, in order to restore harmony and healing and to promote peace among all the peoples of Milford, Pa. and in the State of Pennsylvania itself.
