The current municipal election process in Ottawa does not facilitate effective competition between Members of Council and competing nominees during election periods. In both 2003 and 2006, every Member of Council (at the councilor level) that ran won. This outcome suggests a systemic bias in the election process.

The goal of this petition is to help establish a fair and balanced municipal election process in Ottawa by 2010.

We the undersigned AGREE that Ottawas election process is neither fair nor balanced.

We AGREE that this is a problem, that public consultation should take place, and that solutions neeed to be found and implemented.

We AGREE that the citizens of Ottawa deserve better.

And we AGREE that action should be taken immediately.
