Date: 10/18/2007

Madam or Sirs,

The "Friends of Texas State University San Marcos " and other interested persons would like to submit the following extemporaneous statement, and believe the following to be factual and true:

- A general consensus exists that the university is not pursuing, nor does it have plans to pursue, a rigorous agenda in an effort to elevate the stature of our university in general athletic prowess, consistent with universities of similar size and peer NCAA classification.

- A general consensus exists that the incumbent Athletic Director, Larry Teis, is not currently and has not pursued a rigorous agenda to elevate the stature of our university in general athletic prowess, consistent with universities of similar size based upon our current NCAA classification and desires to remain status quo.

- A general consensus exists that the university should engage an aggressive capital campaign program to raise the funds to construct or improve athletic facilities consistent with those of a DI-A/FBS serving institution.

- A general consensus exists that the university construct and aggressively pursue a well defined marketing plan to attract, recruit and promote our athletic programs during the current NCAAs self-imposed 4 year moratorium and to have our programs at par (or better) than Division I-A peers at the conclusion of this moratorium. Efforts should also be made to improve these items in the interim as well.

- A general consensus exists that the "Friends of Texas State University San Marcos " as well as other official groups (i.e. Loud Crowd, Pride and Traditions Committee) and un-official groups associated with the university (i.e. www.bobcatfans.com) have done and are currently doing their part to elevate a sense of pride and ownership of the universities general athletic programs.

Simply put, the "Friends of Texas State University San Marcos" are doing (and will continue to do) our part to positively promote Texas State University San Marcos. Now, it is time for the Administration of Texas State University San Marcos to abandon its historically apathetic demeanor towards athletics, and through a course of ACTION catapult BOTH athletics and academics equally simultaneously.
