Save Monkey Junction

To:  Wilmington City Council

It has been brought to our attention you are attempting an annexation of the area of New Hanover County commonly known as "Monkey Junction", and with that proposing a description of the area to be "Myrtle Grove".

While the growth of our beautiful area cannot be ingnored and your methodolgy is understood, support for annexation is not warranted in the local community. Not only will the proposal lead to a potential increase in taxes, but the greater potential of desertion is losing the folklore and history of the area that is known to so many as "Monkey Juncion".

We want our friends, family and their children to learn the story behind the name Monkey Junction and the uniqueness that surrounds this part of Americana and the Wilmington area. Before the internet, mass media and marketing campaings, business owners had to do what they could to attract customers to their place of business. It's not just a moniker, but also a story for our treasured coast. If you permanently change the described name for legal documentation, then the legend will in effect vanish over time.

Save this part of Wilmington and this part of American History. Save Monkey Junction.
