PETITION TO STOP RACIST HARASSMENT ON TOLEDO RADIO AIRWAVES

We, the undersigned, feel that the on-air harassment of Asians and Asian businesses by Tower 98 DJs is blatantly racist and completely unacceptable. Your DJ Lucas on-air prank calls to Asian establishments, made with the specific intention of ridiculing the recipients of those calls, were dehumanizing, derogatory, and outrageously offensive. These actions are based on the racist assumption that people of Asian ancestry dont speak English, dont mind being racially harassed on radio airwaves, or somehow deserve less respect than other members of American society. We believe that Asian Americans, whether they speak Standard English or not, are valued members of the community and should not be subject to humiliation and harassment on the air for the sake of entertainment or ratings. Your DJs actions promote an atmosphere in which the mockery and abuse of Asian Americans is tolerated and encouraged. We are deeply angered that your radio station condones this type of behavior. These actions will not be tolerated by our community.

We, the undersigned, demand that you
1.) Remove the offending DJ from the airwaves
2.) Issue a public apology
3.) Refrain from harassing Asian Americans and Asian establishments on the air in the future.

We feel that these are the only acceptable solutions. Failure to address our demands will force us to take further action. In the absence of an adequate response, we will not stop short of contacting your sponsors and organizing a boycott.
