Dear West Bend Community Library,

We're writing in support of your efforts to keep books of your choice on your shelves.

As lifelong students both of reading and of a world moved by its power, we're troubled to hear of actions recently taken in an attempt by some citizens to have books removed--or even moved--from where you've placed them on the shelves of your library.

For your steadfast insistence that it is the library staff's decision as to which books it makes available, as well as where and how, and for your work year-round on behalf of literature and learning, you have our undying appreciation.

If we could give libraries a hug, we would give you one now.

Recognizing that it is precisely in our diversity where lies our species' strength, we applaud your staff for standing up for our right to read from a great variety of sources.
