While fans have welcomed Twentieth Century Foxs decision to release the first season of Angel on DVD in the UK this December, many have been frustrated by advance reports that the first season box-set of the popular TV series will not be presented in a 16x9 anamorphic widescreen format.
As confirmed by the shows co-executive producer Tim Minear, Angel is prepared in anamorphic widescreen, anticipating the arrival of high-definition television. Produced at the same time as Angels first season, the fourth season of parent series Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been broadcast digitally in anamorphic widescreen on UK television by the BBC, demonstrating that the series are available to Fox in this highly desirable format.
This petition will request that Fox takes whatever steps necessary to see that the first Angel DVD box-set is produced with a 16x9 anamorphic widescreen option, and that the company makes a commitment to ensure that all future releases of TV material on DVD are presented in anamorphic widescreen where this format is available.
