Climate change is an issue that deserves serious concern and concrete action. American is already a leader in sustainability among its peers, but we know that is not enough. In 2006, the student body voted overwhelming to switch to 50\% wind power by 2012. In 2008, President Kerwin signed a pledge saying that American University would become carbon neutral. In order for American University to continue to serve as a model for sustainable institutions worldwide, we must set an ambitious timeline for carbon neutrality.

The Undersigned believe that American University should plan to be carbon neutral by 2020.
