This petition exists for the sole purpose of letting the elected officials of McDowell County North Carolina know, that we the citizens of this county demand animal welfare and animal law ordinances now!





This petition will be turned into county officials upon reaching the goal of and adequate amount of signatures of residents of McDowell County. We demand progress and change in McDowell County for the welfare of our pets!





We demand leash laws, penning and chaining laws, backyard puppy mill laws, abuse laws, mandatory spay and neutering, and proof of rabies vaccinations and limiting of the number of animals a single residence can own/keep. We demand adequate punishments, fines and/or jail time for violations of said laws and ordinances.





As we understand there is a lack of funds and manpower in McDowell County to enact and enforce such laws. We also understand that is just an excuse. We need laws before any change can or will occur. We are tired of the deplorable treatment of animals that occurs in McDowell County. We also demand action be taken by our county officials on this matter.





Signing this petition will help to ensure the domestic animals/pets of McDowell County will be protected under the law.
