Dear Bassam,
We are shocked and outraged by the death of your daughter Abir. You are a courageous leader and powerful example, defending the dignity and rights of all people. That your daughter should fall prey to the brutality of the Israeli occupation is a loss beyond words; we mourn with you. We will remember Abir when we march in Washington, DC, demanding that the United States government stops funding and perpetuating violence in Palestine and Iraq. And we will honor Abir's memory as we continue to work beside you in pursuit of a just peace, for you and for all the parents, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives who have lost loved ones to the outrageous, abusive and blind use of power. We are joined in the struggle for a world where children can walk the streets without fear.
