Don’t let North Carolina tax dollars support torture flights any longer!

Whereas, torture is a violation of international norms, the United States Constitution, and state laws, and is morally repugnant;

Whereas, Amnesty International and the European Union have documented that the CIA is engaging in torture flights, whereby people are kidnapped and secretly flown to detention in countries where they are tortured;

Whereas, Aero Contractors has been identified in the media as operating torture flights for the CIA, including the flight that transported Khaled El-Masri from Macedonia to Afghanistan where he was held incommunicado in secret CIA detention and tortured;

Whereas, Aero Contractors uses the facilities of the state-funded Global TransPark in Kinston as well as the Johnston County airport in Smithfield;

Therefore, the undersigned call on you to thoroughly investigate Aero Contractors’ participation in the operation of torture flights and take appropriate action henceforth.
