Better serving conditions for Indian armed forces

Fellow Citizens,

The government of India must come out clean on the issues related to armed forces. Time and again the present government has let down the armed forces, whether it is on the '6th pay commission' or 'one rank one pension' issue.

It is beyond comprehension that the decisions related to armed forces are taken by our inefficient and corrupt bureaucratic setup. Does the bureaucratic setup/politicians understand the situation in which the armed forces work? Have they ever visited the icy mountains of Kargil or the hot deserts of Punch? Sitting in their air conditioned offices/homes and using their air conditioned cars sponsored by citizens of India, do they understand the ground realities? If they do not, they should be asked to visit these places once every two years for fresh air which will keep their mind open and alert, and help them to take the right decisions.

We, the citizens of India, demand (not request) that armed forces be given the treatment they deserve. If MNCs in India give the salaries which are at par with their western counterparts, the armed personnel in India should be given the salaries which are at par with their western counterparts.

If government thinks that the armed forces don't have a voice, they are mistaken. The message to the government and bureaucratic setup is simple: If you don't understand their issues, their problems, their needs, the hostile conditions in which they have to work, please get out of the way gracefully. There is no place for complacency on this front. Give the best facilities and salaries to our armed forces. If required (and if there is shortage of funds), either create more wealth for the country by working hard or reduce your own salaries.

An ordinary Indian who loves and respects its armed forces.
