Avon Citizens for Change





Whereas -


We, Avon Citizens for Change, take issue with the Avon (Ohio) Board of Education resolution that charges its legal counsel to start the legal process of taking land owned by Mary Jane Wolfe via Eminent Domain.





Whereas-


The Avon Board of Education and Superintendent Jim Reitenbach have not included the community in discussion about plans to build a new school or the need for acquisition of land for such a project.





Whereas-


Avon has MANY parcels of land suitable to build a new school on with WILLING parties wishing to sell land to the Avon Board of Education. The Avon Citizens for Change see no reason why the Avon Board of Education does not pursue other land options; why the expediency of taking Mary Jane Wolfes land via Eminent Domain; and why the Avon community was not involved in the discussion of where to build a new school.





Be it Resolved-


The Avon Citizens for Change asks the Avon Board of Education to rescind its charge to its legal counsel to begin Eminent Domain action on he land owned by Mary Jane Wolfe





Be it Further Resolved-


The Avon Board of Education will begin an open dialogue with the citizens of Avon on the planning of a new Avon Middle School.
