Lewis Hamilton tax dodger !

To:  BRITISH GOVERNMENT

We are appalled at the ongoing habit of newly rich celebrities, upon coming into extreme wealth, adopting tax avoidance strategies such as expatriating to tax havens (eg, Monaco, Switzerland).

We are of the strong opinion, that having benefitted beyond all reasonable expectation from the economic and cultural resources offered by their host societies during their formative years, it is morally repugnant to relocate to another society upon realization of the economic returns provided by the collective investment of their former host society, in order purely to horde all such economic returns for themselves and not return anything to the society that provided their opportunity. (In fact - it's the scientific definition of "parasite". It is pure leechism!)

In this context, we believe this phenomenon needs to be addressed and a topical and effective starting example should be made of Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain. Rumoured to become, in the not too distant future, the richest sportsperson of all-time, his management group have structured a tax-exile income arrangemnt for him living in Switzerland - so as to avoid paying hundreds of millions of dollars to the British Tax Office (and thereby giving back to the British society whose cultural and economic systems enabled him the opportunity to earn these returns).

We vehemently urge the various British Government Offices controlling Tax, Labour, Business, Foreign Affairs, Immigration etc. to force Lewis Hamilton to either remain a British resident and therefore pay his due taxes to the Brtish Government, OR, renounce his British citizenship to live in Switzerland. In such case - we advocate a refusal to issue him an entry visa back into Britain to contest the British F1 Grand Prix every year (which will thereby reduce his earning capacity so significantly, that it may be more economically feasible for him to remain in Britain and pay the taxes he should have accepted in the first instance!)

In a global environment of growing awareness at the unsustainablity of such extreme wealth excesses by The Elite, particularly in a looming global financial crisis, this issue takes on prime topicality, and is a ripe opportunity for some justice to be seen to be done. If working taxpayers are bailing out banks - why should wealthy celebrities be exempt from their share of obligation!
