We, the undersigned, respectfully petition Bangor University for appropriate, permanent, spacious and quiet worship facilities including prayer rooms and corresponding ablution and social spaces within its campus for daily use by Muslim students, staff and their families throughout the year.
The lack of such facilities is causing undue stress to those who are finding it difficult to perform their daily prayers and is negatively reflected on their peace of mind as well as academic performance and social being.
Muslims arriving from over 52 countries around the World have a long established presence and contribute a significant percentage to the body of students and staff at the University. This is further supported by the new specialist Islamic courses and the establishment of closer ties with countries on the Arabian Peninsula and others across the Muslim World.
We hold that by offering such facilities, Bangor University will demonstrate its commitment to the duty of care to its students and enhance its international image to an important target audience.
