To:  US President and Congress

I am writing on behalf of my now deceased husband and for all people who are facing terminal illness. My goal is to change the law on total disability for any person facing a life threatening disease such as my husband had. My main purpose is to change the law to shorten the waiting period on total disability so that a person with a terminal illness may enjoy their last months. Enclosed is an editorial from the Providence Journal that I (B. Ellen Lyon) wrote on behalf of my husband explaining why I want this law changed: http://article.wn.com/view/2009/07/29/B_Ellen_Lyon_A_fatal_illness_haunted_by_a_flawed_benefits_sy/

Most importantly, nobody should have to go through what my family and I endured during my husband Charlie’s last months alive. Please share your experiences and sign the petition that we will show to the senators, congressmen and President Obama. My goal is to reach as many signatures as possible. Please help this worthy cause. If you want to continue to help, please join our Facebook group (linked below). Thank you.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
