Casting the role of Bombur for "The Hobbit"

To:  Mssrs. Peter Jackson, producer, and Guillermo Del Toro, director, for the scheduled 2011 release of "The Hobbit".

Dear Sirs,

We take this opportunity to respectfully submit to you our plea for your strong consideration of a specific casting choice to the role of Bombur in the aforementioned film.

Specifically our entreaty concerns Mr. William S. Tolliver, an experienced actor, whose deep and broad understanding of J.R.R. Tolkien's much-beloved creation of Middle Earth would make him, in our opinion, a superb selection to fill this role. Mr. Tolliver already possesses the tools and conceptual grasp of Tolkien's literature, it's mood and substance, about which we believe equips him with ideal qualities to bring the role of Bombur to vivid life in a motion picture.

We, the undersigned, as not only dedicated fans of Tolkien's much-beloved creation of Middle Earth but also Mr. Jackson's monumental effort in bringing "The Lord of the Rings" to the screen, can only imagine the daunting task of casting such a large and tightly integrated collection of literary personalities into a believable ensemble. Particularly when working with material that has been loved, scrutinized, shared and written about by generations of passionate fans of J.R.R. Tolkien and his seminal fantasy saga, it is clear that consideration of the screen portrayals for these iconic characters is a sensitive matter, as they will surely be critically analyzed by a discerning and demanding audience.

Therefore we, the undersigned, truly believe that incorporating not only the talents and knowledge of Mr. William Tolliver, but also his own passion and dedication to "The Hobbit", would add immeasurably to this film with respect to outstanding characterization and on-screen presence.
