For Joe Donnelly and the Democrats to Permanently Extend the Protect America Act

As Joe Donnelly (IN-02) and the Democrats return to Washington this week, they will have a lot of questions to answer about risking America’s national security in an effort to provide a litigation frenzy for the same trial lawyers who have filled their campaign coffers. Having for years served as a special interest cash cow for Democrats in Washington, trial attorneys have contributed thousands of dollars to Joe Donnelly, and they are reaping the benefits from their backroom lobbying efforts.


In a maneuver that is similar to last year’s payback to Big Labor
, Joe Donnelly and the Democrats in Congress have abandoned their duties to protect the American people and have stopped at nothing to prop up the trial lobby . Democrats are hoping to open the floodgates for their trial lawyer friends to tie up the court systems with frivolous lawsuits against private telecommunications companies who have done their patriotic
duty in choosing to assist in terrorist surveillance activities.

“…the government ‘lost intelligence information’ because House Democrats allowed a surveillance law to expire last week, causing some telecommunications companies to refuse to cooperate with terrorism-related wiretapping orders.” (Washington Post,02/23/08)


“Joe Donnelly has proven that he’s not the kind of guy to cash a check on Monday and vote against you on Tuesday, no matter what you stand for” commented 2nd District Congressional Candidate Luke Puckett. “Joe Donnelly and the Democrats’ reckless actions will carry serious political repercussions should they continue to choose their own interests and safety over the American people and folks of the 2nd District.”

We ask Joe Donnelly to make America safe again and vote in favor of permanently extending the Protect America Act.
