Keep the Champ Cars racing at Long Beach! |
> > > MAY 24, 2005 < < < A company affiliated with the Champ Car World Series finalized an agreement Monday to purchase the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, a move that ends the long-waged battle for the future of the Toyota Grand Prix. Jim Michaelian, the president and CEO of the Grand Prix Association, confirmed the deal Monday afternoon. He said the GPALB's parent company, Delaware-based Dover Motorsports, will make the official announcement today. Thanks to all the Champ Car fans who have signed our petition. A BIG THANKS! to all the various online Champ Car websites and forums, which have been instrumental in getting the word out. A special THANKS to Gary, Jim, Daryll and the members of the CCWS@Yahoo!Groups and the One18 Racing Bulletin Board!
To: Jim Michaelian, president and general manager of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach (GPALB) Dover MotorsportsFellow fans and supporters of the Champ Car World Series,
The IRL has no business racing on the streets of Long Beach. They are an "oval" based series who are on the brink of extinction and are resorting to "stealing" the marquee event of the Champ Car World Series. As fans of the CCWS, we cannot accept this underhanded play by IRL founder, Tony George and his series organization.
We must make our collective voices heard through this petition and let the event organizers at Dover Motorsports know that we will not accept the IRL (or any series for that matter) replace the Champ Cars ar Long Beach.
Please take this moment to sign this petition and let Jim Michaelian, president and general manager of Dover Motorsports (and the rest of those involved in the decision making process) know that we want Champ Cars back at Long Beach! Mr. Michaelian has been part of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach since it's inception and knows how devoted we are as Champ Car fans. Let's make him keenly aware that we will speak with our wallets and TV sets if the IRL is chosen to replace the only true American Open Wheel series.
Help us keep Champ Cars at Long Beach... sign our petition!Sincerely,
