Dear Neighbors:
Many of us who live in the City of Atlanta have become increasing concerned about the financial solvency of the city that has led to the furloughs of our police officers and fire fighters. Criminals can hear the news, too, and in recent weeks crime appears to have gotten worse around our homes as police presence in our neighborhoods declines. If that isnt bad enough, basic city services are not being delivered to us in an efficient and competent manner. We have serious challenges facing our city today, especially in the areas of solvency and safety. Who we elect as the next Mayor will be the person who has to be committed to solving these challenges. As a result of our concerns, a group of leaders and former leaders of neighborhood associations has formed an organization called Campaign for Atlanta. This is a campaign for the city of Atlanta, not for an individual.

2. Safety and Basic Services

Hold Police Department Accountable for Resource Use, Results and Ethics
Return Fire to Full Strength
Demand Competent Service in Watershed Management, Code Enforcement and Permitting
Develop Long-Term Strategy to Address Infrastructure Shortcomings
Keep Public Places Clean, Safe & Graffiti-Free
3. Competence and Good Government
Build Competent Bureaucracy, Motivate Staff, Set Efficiency Standards
Appoint Independent City Attorney
Emphasize Ethical Government, with Independent Program Audits
Forge Strong Relationships with Metro Area, State and Federal Governments
The focus of CFA is to hold forums which will require candidates to come and have an in-depth discussion with us about the major challenges facing our city. We are not interested in campaign slogans. We want the candidates to tell us what they plan to do as Mayor, and we want to judge them on their commitment to that plan.
If you have the same concerns as we do, please consider signing this Petition to show your support. Together we can change Atlanta. We need you, please come join us.
