Venezuelan CITGO is not for sale

To:  President of Nigeria: Olusegun Obasanjo, Nigerian National Petroleum Company, President of the United States: George Bush, Amigos de Venezuela, United Nations Commission on International Trade UNCITRAL, Federal Trade Commission and Mr. Colin Powell

We the people from Venezuela who undersign this on going petition are requesting the Government of Nigeria to freeze all negotiations of the acquisition of CITGO. By law in Venezuela, Petroleos de Venezuela or PDVSA’s holdings belong to the people of Venezuela not the Government and the great majority of us do not want CITGO to be sold. We appeal to your sense of social responsibility and justice to suspend all negotiations with the Government of Chavez. As you must be well aware we are suffering a deep political and economical crisis in Venezuela and the Government no longer represents the majority of us. Hugo Chavez has dictated the most destructive economical policies and we strongly oppose and will not recognize the transaction of any of PDVSA’s assets. Please cease and desist from compromising the future of the Venezuelan people.

Nosotros los abajo firmantes pedimos al Gobierno de Nigeria que congele todas las negociaciones de compra de la compania CITGO. De acuerdo a ley Venezolana PDVSA es de sus ciudadanos y no del Gobierno y la gran mayoria de nosotros nos oponemos rotundamente a la venta de CITGO. Apelamos a su sentido de responsabilidad social y justicia para que suspendan todas las negociaciones de compra-venta con el Presidente Chavez y/o sus representantes. Como consecuencias de las politicas de Hugo Chavez Venezuela atraviesa la peor crisis economica de su historia. Este Gobierno no representa mas la voluntad de la mayoria, la mayoria de los ciudadanos Venezolanos nos oponemos rotundamente y no reconoceremos la venta de CITGO o de cualquier activo de PDVSA. Por favor detenganse y desistan de comprometer el futuro de los Venezolanos.
