In Lebanon, dozens of refugees, who cannot return to their respective countries of origin, are illegally held underground in the Adlieh retention center by the General Security, in inhumane conditions.

Through this arbitrary prolonged detention, the General Security intends to force them to accept their deportation.

This practice constitutes a flagrant violation of human rights and must end immediately!

We, the undersigned herewith, solemnly urge the Lebanese authorities to:

Release immediately all refugees detained arbitrarily.

Amend the 1962 Law Regulating the Entry and Stay of Foreigners in Lebanon and their Exit from the Country so as to prohibit all arrest and/or detention of refugees and asylum seekers for the only offense of illegal entry and/or stay.

Review the General Securitys prerogatives.
