We, the undersigned, endorse the Cooper Park Complex proposal as presented by Arshot Investment Corporation and Jeff Gordon Inc.
We believe that the proposal as presented and detailed on the Cooper Park Complex web site (cooperparkcomplex.com) would become an important regional and neighborhood asset with numerous positive affects and benefits to Central Ohio, Columbus, and the local communities.
The plan, which includes entry level as well as professional level employment opportunities, combined with the probable economic gains for local and regional businesses will provide for a unique, privately funded, re-development opportunity of the historic stadium and grounds, which is much needed for our Franklinton and Southwest communities. We feel that the proposal, if it becomes a reality, will serve as a springboard for additional business growth and development in the areas immediately surrounding Cooper Park.
With regard to noise concerns within neighborhoods surrounding Cooper Stadium, we believe that the developer has shown concern, good faith, and a strong desire to shield the surrounding neighborhoods from any increase beyond existing and legal levels of noise. Arshot Investment Corporation has worked with several local civic commissions to select and contract a professional, experienced, and industry leading firm to provide a comprehensive acoustic sound study. The result is a thorough and inclusive noise abatement plan designed to limit and control potential racing related noises, completed in a manner that the average citizen can grasp, and which the developer has agreed to fully incorporate into the design, construction, and operation of the facility. No other development of this nature has received this high level of commitment to protect and preserve the existing life style of nearby residents. We applaud Arshot Investment Corporation for their commitment to contain any potential negative impacts associated with this project.
We believe that this proposed re-use will greatly enhance the position of the Central Ohio region as a leader in the field of automotive research and testing, with the objective of advancing safety and environmental technologies. All while providing an exceptional, multi-sports entertainment and event venue that has been designed to stimulate economic development within our communities.
We respectfully ask that our civic and community leaders support this re-development proposal of the former Cooper Stadium site.
