As fans the one thing we always enjoyed the most about The Cure are their phenomenal live performances. The band has done well with providing the fans several live recordings along with the standard studio albums. However, one thing has been missing, a proper live recording from the 1989 Prayer Tour. In particular one concert has remained a favorite among many fans, the third night from Wembley Arena on July 24th, 1989. This concert was used (along with the other two nights) to compile the live compilation Entreat. Ever since the release of Entreat, the fans have desired hearing the Wembley shows in their entirety, the third night in particular. That night the band performed the longest and most incredible concert to date, playing over 30 songs including the entire Disintegration album.
The band has recently been receiving praise from many successful new artists, being referenced as being one of the most inspirational bands of their generation. Now it is time to show why they are held in such high regard, by releasing their best concert ever. With the renewed popularity of official live recordings (well exhibited by the Pearl Jam official bootlegs) I believe such a release would be well received by the fans of The Cure, and music enthusiasts.
This purpose of this petition is to gain support and show the band that there is support for the release of the 07/24/89 concert in its entirety. We realize that it has been many years since the show had been recorded, and that the source material may no longer be usable. However in the event that the master tapes are usable, a release would fill in a large hole in the bands discography.
