Time and time again, Wales- a country with its own language, heritage, culture, war heroes, artists, rugby players and idiosyncracies- has been referred to as being a part of England.

In France and the Spanish-speaking world, there is a tendency to refer to the United Kingdom as "England", neglecting the existence of a whole other three nations. This habit of political incorrectness has become somewhat global, and is a reference which insults the Welsh, Scottish and Northern Irish whose countrymen active in British politics or history are either ignored or referred to as English.

The following petition revendicates the right of recognition of Wales as an independent part of the United Kingdom, and not England. Therefore, it symbolises a protest against the reference of Wales as being a part of England, or the use of the terms England and anglo-saxon (in whichever language) to designate the United Kingdom.

Hence, we address ourselves to the publishers of the books "Histoire du XIXe siècle" by Berstein and Milza, "Le XIXe siècle 1815-1914" by Heffer and Serman, books-supposedly accurate and politically correct although in vain- which contain the repeated error of referring to the United Kingdom as England.

Le Pays de Galles-un pays avec sa propre langue, son propre patrimoine, sa propre culture, ses propres martyres, ses propres artistes, ses propres joueurs de rugby et ses propres particularités- ne cesse d’être perçu comme une partie intégrale de l’Angleterre.

En France et dans le monde hispanophone, il y a une tendance à se référer au Royaume-Uni comme étant l’Angleterre, négligeant l’existence ou la reconnaissance de trois autres nations. Cette habitude d’expression politiquement incorrecte, est une insulte aux Gallois, Écossais, et Irlandais du Nord, les compatriotes desquels actifs dans la politique ou l’histoire britannique sont ou ignorés ou appelés anglais.

Cette pétition revendique le droit de reconnaissance du Pays de Galles comme une partie du Royaume-Uni, indépendante de l’Angleterre. Ainsi, elle a comme bût une protestation contre des références qui supposent que le Pays de Galles est une partie intégrale de l’Angleterre, ou qui utilisent les termes « Angleterre » ou « anglo-saxon » (dans n’importe quelle langue) pour désigner le Royaume-Uni.

Enfin, notre pétition s’adresse aux éditeurs des livres « Histoire du XIXe siècle » de Berstein/Milza, et « Le XIXe siècle 1814-1914 » de Heffer/Serman, livres- supposés éduquer et tenir un discours académique politiquement correct- qui commettent l’erreur de se référer au Royaume-Uni comme l’Angleterre à plusieurs reprises.
