Letter of the Brazilians to the Blizzard Entertainment:

We come, by means of this, to plead, next to the Blizzard Entertainment, a company with international reputation and recognition, so that the game Diablo III, with all of its rights reserved, as it is known by law, either officially translated by this company to brazilian portuguese (PT-BR), we will also take into consideration, besides the point, the related contributions to the world-wide entertainment, the royalty of the game and its dynamics, and primarily, the great interest in the Brazilian people, in special, acquiring a game of this stature in its language, symbolisms of its culture, not being obstante to the knowledge of the current spread of the World-wide spoken language: English, as he is known by all.

The common interest of the Brazilians motivates this virtual petition which is addressed to this company, which is therefore awaiting a concrete and positive reply.

We know all that the Blizzard Entertainment appraises and has indistinct interests for its fans, its relevance in the life of all, such as this addressed letter, must be translated by reason of pride for this company.

The Brazilians follow with interest the ascension of this company since the beginning. This tends, also, to raise the admiration to count for the contribution, as it was above-mentioned, for the notables games offered during all these years.

We, Brazilians have conscience that, as known by all means of communication, we represent great parcel of the market in expansion of games and entertainment, as it occurs within the Internet, amongst other technologies in the world. Countless users of games, including us, validate the English language without a problem. The feeling that inspires this petition is bigger. It arrives to be altruistic; therefore it will not only accumulate the stocks of those who dominate the language as it will come as a gift to those who desire to see the game in its language, the Brazilian Portuguese.

However, it is known that many people don’t have a great interest for such an adventure, as it is known of all, for not understanding that the game is globally considered. Conspired history of the universe of Diablo – well as it happens with the other games of this enterprise – (Warcraft and Starcraft) will finish, surely, for captivating much more fans of what they effectively exist in the present time, here in Brazil, raising even more the noble concept and the importance that this company enjoys in the world-wide context in all aspects.

We do not have any doubts that a better understanding of this universe in which Diablo is part of, with its histories and myths, will significantly increase the number of players, admirers, fans; contributing, in reality, for the multiplication, in extreme number, of potential experts and buyers for this legendary game.

We believe and hope for, truthly, that Diablo III surpasses the expectations and becomes a myth, being multiplied in sales for the phenomenon and immortalizing itself, as it occurred with its predecessors. We want to be part of this and certainly form - because not to say - to benefit ourselves with this.

We inform that all the distinct interest is a Brazilian reality in seeing this game, with option in its language, its official language, which is the Brazilian Portuguese, PT-BR (Português Brasileiro). However, we respect, of course, the ones that desire to play it in English.

It is important to speak out that, that the smashing majority, we do NOT have interests in BACKUP VOICES, such that is will keep the preservation and the essence of the game, but in translated texts, subtitles in movies acts, quests…

We have to stand out itself in the existing irreparable divergence of some to prefer the maintenance of the rooms, skills and item with its original names, without any alteration. Others, however, defend a literal translation.

If the option is not possible, claims, differentiated options is the possibility of choice of YES or NOT, in what it refers to the translation of these typical elements of the game in itself (skills, levels, item classrooms, enemies…). If this will not be possible, the majority opts to being preserved in its original language for all these elements, in order not to only deprive of characteristics “the magical” essence of the game, modifying itself the texts of personages, dialogues, quests, legends of movie clips in general…

It is for this necessity that we send this letter, so that we can (and we must!) be proud to see the game as it is launched with this option, including eventual legends in clips and tickets of the history that come to integrate the game.

We do not have doubts that the translation in its original form will be launched in the highest quality.

Viemos, por meio desta, pleitear, junto à Blizzard Entertainment, empresa esta de renome e reconhecimento internacional, para que o jogo Diablo III, com todos os seus direitos reservados, como é sabido por lei, seja oficialmente traduzido por esta empresa para o brazilian portuguese (PT-BR), tendo em vista levarmos em consideração, por demais, os referidos préstimos de contribuição ao entretenimento mundial, a realeza do jogo e sua dinâmica, e, principalmente, o grande interesse do povo brasileiro, em especial, em adquirir um jogo desta estatura no seu idioma, este, um dos símbolos de sua cultura, não obstante o conhecimento do idioma corrente mundialmente falado e difundido: o inglês, como é sabido por todos.

O interesse comum dos brasileiros motiva esta petição virtual endereçada a esta empresa, ao que se espera uma resposta concreta e positiva nesse sentido.

Sabemos todos que a Blizzard Entertainment tem apreço e se interessa por seus fãs indistintamente e, a sua relevância na vida de todos nós, tal como esta carta endereçada, deve ser traduzida por motivo de orgulho por esta empresa.

Os brasileiros acompanham com interesse a ascensão dessa empresa desde os seus primórdios.

Isso tende, inclusive, a elevar a admiração a contar pela contribuição, como foi supracitado, pelos notáveis jogos brindados durante todos esses anos.

Temos consciência que nós, brasileiros, como se sabido por todos os meios de comunicação, representamos grande parcela do mercado em expansão de jogos e entretenimento, tal como ocorre com a internet, dentre outras tecnologias no mundo. Incontáveis usuários de jogos, a nos incluirmos, se valem da língua inglesa sem qualquer problema. O sentimento que inspira essa petição é maior. Chega a ser altruísta, pois não só abarcará aqueles que dominam a língua como presenteará aqueles que desejam ver o jogo em sua língua, o português brasileiro.

Ademais, sabe-se que muitas pessoas se desinteressam pela aventura, como é de conhecimento de todos, por não entenderem ao que o jogo globalmente se propõe. A bem tramada história do universo de Diablo – tal como acontece com os outros jogos desta empresa – (Warcraft e Starcraft) terminará, seguramente, por cativar muito mais fãs do que eles efetivamente existem na atualidade, aqui no Brasil, elevando ainda mais o já nobre conceito e a importância que essa empresa goza no panorama mundial por todos os seus aspectos.

Não temos dúvidas que um melhor entendimento deste universo em que se perfaz Diablo, com suas histórias e mitos, aumentará sensivelmente o número de jogadores, adoradores, fãs; contribuindo, em realidade, para a multiplicação, em excessivo número, de potenciais conhecedores e compradores deste lendário jogo.

Acreditamos e torcemos, em verdade, que Diablo III supere as expectativas e torne-se um mito, multiplicando-se pelo fenômeno de vendas e imortalizando-se tal como ocorreu com os seus predecessores.

Queremos fazer parte disso e, de certa forma – porque não dizer – nos beneficiarmos com isso.

Informamos de toda uma distinta realidade brasileira interessada em ver esse jogo, com opção em sua língua, seu idioma oficial, qual seja o português brasileiro, PT-BR (brazilian portuguese). Contudo, respeitamos, naturalmente, os que desejam jogá-lo em inglês.

É importante ressaltar que, em esmagadora maioria, NÃO temos interesses em DUBLAGENS, tendo em vista a preservação da essência do jogo, mas sim em textos traduzidos, legendas, quests etc.

Há que se ressaltar da divergência insanável existente de uns preferirem a manutenção das classes, skills, itens por seus nomes originais, sem qualquer alteração. Outros, entretanto, defendem uma tradução literal. Por esse divisor, clama-se, pela opção diferenciada na possibilidade de escolha de SIM ou NÃO, no que tange à tradução desses elementos típicos do jogo em si (skills, levels, itens classes, inimigos etc).

Caso não seja possível, a maioria opta por serem preservados em seu idioma original todos esses elementos, a fim de não descaracterizar a essência “mágica” do jogo, modificando-se somente os textos de personagens, diálogos, quests, legendas de videoclipes em geral etc.

É por este mister que enviamos essa carta, a fim de que possamos (e devemos!) orgulhosamente ver o jogo ser lançado com essa opção, incluindo legendas em eventuais videoclipes e passagens da história que venham a integrar o jogo.

Não temos dúvidas que a tradução em original se dará da mais alta qualidade.
