Every night women in the Democratic Republic of Congo are abducted, gang raped, taken hostage for purposes of being a sex slave, sexually mutilated, raped by family members who are held at gunpoint, forced to eat the flesh of the family members they have just seen murdered, sold into slavery and murdered by militia groups. These women are often cast out by their communities, cut off from health care and infected with numerous life-threatening sexually transmitted diseases. They are poor, and have no voice in their own country let alone the world. For more information please see the numerous reports provided by the United Nations, Amnesty International, Refugee International and others. Please help the women of The Democratic Republic of Congo by signing this petition to increase coverage of their appalling situation by the United States media.
